UL plays a unique role in Irish Sport today. This is done by a combination of the arena and the University itself. The arena facilities are second to none and the University provides a variety of teaching and research programmes in PE and Sports Science. These programmes are currently provided to 600 full-time students. In addition to its role in the national sporting world, the University in conjunction with the Arena and the Activity Centre in Killaloe provides sporting facilities to the 12,000 strong student body and staff on campus. The facilities are also in place for use by the general public.
The Clubs and Societies on Campus provide a great way for getting to know people and really making the best of your time at UL. Clubs and Societies can be joined by any registered student including undergraduates, post-grads, Erasmus and Study Abroad students. Clubs and Societies are run through the Student’s Union.
