Last Thursday April 14th Brookfield Hall threw a big party for its residents. There was tons of hot food, drink and music in Brookfield’s games room with a BBQ cooking outside. Well over 100 of our residents joined in the festivities and we recieved great feedback. We hope that all UL students have a good easter break and remain stress free in this important run up to exams.
The Student Race Day was held at Limerick Racecourse yesterday and proved to be another major success. Thousands of students flocked to the racecourse for a day of entertainment. One of Brookfield Hall’s partners Spin South West provided two floors of entertainment and offered a prize for the best dressed in pink. Feedback from organisers and students has been extremly positive.
Last weekend was another busy weekend in Brookfield Hall as we had many participants from a training camp which was taking place in the University Of Limerick staying here with us. This was a 3 day training camp including competitions for the AKAI which is the official National Kickboxing Association. All courts were a hive of sparing and training, and competitive action was the atmosphere among the residents here in Brookfield Hall. There were huge numbers taking part in this camp and we here at Brookfield Hall were amazed at this, as we never realised just how popular the sport is and also the range of age groups which take part, we had young to old staying in our student apartments for this event.
All who attended this camp agreed they truly enjoyed there stay here in Brookfield Hall Student Apartments and would be recommending it to the other groups which attend the University of Limerick for various different camps during the summer months.
Brookfield Hall Student Accommodation for UL was once again buzzing with excitement last weekend preparing for the arrival of many participants of the Gaynor cup, which was the big sporting event in UL this weekend. Brookfield Hall was delighted to be able to accommodate the many participants in this sporting event. Some of the young participants were explaining to me all about this wonderful event which is the female equivalent of the Kennedy Cup. This is played on a regional basis rather than local leagues and it also covers different age groups. There are divisions at under 14, 16, 18 and there were 21 teams in all that enjoyed a wonderful weekend of soccer. I have been told that this competition has really grown in stature over the last few years with the FAI and UNBRO putting their full might behind the Tournament. All participants of this event who stayed with us were very impressed with our Luxury Student Apartments. They found Brookfield Hall to be of ideal location due to it being so near the University of Limerick.
The Sporting Facilities available in UL truly are second to none. The word “Sport” has long been synonymous with Limerick as a city and perhaps that is the reason that it was here that Ireland’s first 50m swimming pool was built. Along with the Olympic size swimming pool, the UL arena boasts many other facilities such as the Cardio Fitness Centre, the National Strength and Conditioning Centre and many more. UL also has its own activity centre on Lough Derg. This offers students to not only take part in more traditional team sports such as rugby, hurling and waterpolo but also to enjoy sports such as sailing and windsurfing as part of some of the wide range of clubs in UL. No matter what kind of sport you’re into, there’s something for everyone from aerobics to archery so there simply is no excuse for not giving something a go!
